Air New Zealand mPass
With mPass on your Windows Phone you can view up to date details of all your flight bookings and go straight to the gate when travelling within New Zealand without bags. mPass acts as an electronic boarding pass.
The mPass boarding pass is also recognised by Air New Zealand airport kiosks. Just scan your mPass boarding pass to collect baggage tags when travelling domestically with bags. If you’re a Koru member, scan your mPass boarding pass for entry to the Koru Lounge.

Background
Air New Zealand require their applications and services to be available to the widest possible audience. Making mPass available on Windows Phone is a continuation of Air New Zealand’s forward thinking and proactive stance in the mobile space. Marker’s challenge was to develop an application that was not only appropriately functional but aesthetically consistent with the distinctive and original Windows Phone Metro user experience.
Strategy
We designed and developed the mPass application in partnership with the Air New Zealand development and testing teams. The application seamlessly integrates with the mPass web services at Air New Zealand and makes use of native phone features to allow for offline storage and online synchronisation of user flight and booking information on the go. We employed a ‘clutter free’ approach to the design, removing all unnecessary elements with a focus on content and the task in hand, in the spirit of the overall Windows Phone user experience guidelines.
Successes
The application was launched into the Marketplace in early November 2010. It has remained since then a consistently featured, top free application in the New Zealand marketplace together with a 5 star rating. It’s become an essential application for any Windows Phone user.
