Using async/await to keep your UI responsive? Come to this demo heavy session to learn the easier way to build Windows 8 apps covering all the stuff we have learned including building great Semantic Zoom, Grid Views and Snapped View experiences. We’ve been building real Windows 8 apps for months, and have a pile of neat tips and tricks to show you how to optimize for developer happiness and get the most out of the platform.

Windows 8 is here! This session will take.NET developers through their first few nervous steps in this exciting new world and will address the initial questions you might have: What does a modern Windows style app look like? What tools are available and how do I get started? In this session, Ian and Ben will go through the core design principles for Windows apps and how these apply to Windows 8 and Windows Phone. You won’t need any prior knowledge of Windows 8 or Windows Phone for this session, but an understanding of c# and XAML will help you follow the demo.
